Without going into a lot of detail here:A Fine recording: Just check out the performer list: First-rate.A Fine recording: Austin City Limits has an amazing [now] 3-4 decade archive of live music video... these tunes represent the creme de la creme for these artists @ this venue.An important recording:Look at how many of these artists are alive now.... These Austin City Limits sessions (esp. for performers like Merle Travis, Floyd Cramer, Marty Robbins, Roger Miller, Bob Wills, Faron Young, etc.....) might well represent the last times these artists had the exposure of a nationally syndicated live television performance.A fun recording: The Roy Orbison performance is IMHO: hair-raisingly good.. So too with Fats Domino, Bob Wills, Loretta Lynn, Marty Robbins, Glenn Campbell. Plus I am a big fan of Merle Travis, so I enjoyed hearing Merle up close and personal. TAll of these performances are really fun, actually. A strong bargain $$$-wise and entertainment-wise.

I'm not even a big fan of ACL, but I came across one of these songs on Pandora and bought the whole album. Fun,live versions of true classics. It's a real bring-a-smile-to-your-face type album.
