This is "The Definitive Greatest Hits of Trace Adkins"

No one else could have come up with a better compilation of the music of Trace Adkins. A two-disc set definetely accomplishes this task.Here's a short review of what hits are on this CD:Trace's #1 hits: This Ain't (No Thinkin' Thing), Ladies Love Country Boys and You're Gonna Miss This.Trace's Top 5 hits: Every Light In The House, I Left Something Turned On At Home, The Rest Of Mine, Hot Mama, Songs About Me, etc.Trace's other Top 10 hits: More, I'm Tryin', Chrome, Then They Do, etc.All of Trace's Top 40 Country singles are here except for I'm Gonna Love You Anyway which could have been included. Muddy Water, Marry For Money and All I Ask For Anymore (the singles from the album X) are finally included on a Trace Adkins greatest hits album ("X" was released after his his second greatest hits was released). The inclusions 'Til The Last Shot Is Fired and Dangerous Man is a nice surpprise.This is not Adkins first greatest hits collection. There's Greatest Hits Collection Vol.1 (2003) and American Man: Greatest Hits Volume II (2008) both of which I have. I will definetely buy this two-disc set. If you are looking for the ultimate Trace Adkins hits collection, this is it.

Great country music from 1996 to 2009

I was vaguely aware of Trace's music but hadn't really paid much attention to it prior to buying this set. In many ways a typical country singer, Trace has managed to find some great songs through the years, taking many of them high up the American country charts. Trace co-wrote two of the songs here (\there's a girl in Texas, The rest of mine) but appears to have relied on specialist songwriters for his material. Trace has a fine voice that may at times remind you of other great male country singers of earlier generations.This double CD contains all of Trace's solo hits up to the end of 2009 except I'm gonna love you anyway (a top forty country hit), although it includes one non-hit (Dangerous man, the title track to one of his albums, which wasn't released as a single but nevertheless closes the set). `Til the last shot's fired, not officially released as single, charted anyway and is also included. The hits from Trace's 2010 album of original material, Cowboy's back in town, are not here. Also missing is Hillbilly bone, Trace's number one hit with Blake Shelton, but that track is available on Blake's own compilation Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton .This is an excellent compilation that will of course appeal to country music fans, but may also to those rock music fans who enjoy some country music.

Hard not to like!

If you don't like country music, if you can't stand Trace Adkins or you have some visceral reaction to the CD, it is possible not to like this set. Other than that, I don't see how you cannot like this CD set.28 tracks containing all his major hits give almost two hours of good music. Trace has a fine workable voice with a good range. This keeps things fresh as we do "country with a little rock n roll". Some are loud and boisterous, some thought full and some can bring tears to your eyes. The first time I heard Arlington, I sat in a parked car until the song finished. I left something turned on at home is an anthem for every good relationship you ever had.The band is just fine, the lead singer is excellent and the songs are great. Grab a cold one, kick back and you will be toe tapping in no time!
