With 158 hits on 10 CDs, the 'Golden Age of Country' is the most comprehensive collection ever devoted to country music of the 1950s and '60s. We've brought together all the major C&W stars and their hits from the two most important decades in the genre's history.
Along with classics by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Merle Haggard,Tammy Wynette and more, the collection also features early '50s legends such as Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Webb Pierce, Hank Snow and Kitty Wells. Other gems include Loretta Lynn's first hit, 'I'm a Honky Tonk Girl,' on the small Zero label, and Elvis' first single, 'That's All Right,' on Sun from 1954. Plus, we've included two very special CDs of
rarely anthologized hard-to-find' hits by artists like Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper, Ernest Ashworth, and Roy Drusky. It's a dream collection for any fan of classic country music.

Classic Country Music At It's Best!
By Annmarie
Fans of classic country music will LOVE this collection. I bought this as a gift for my parents and they love love LOVE it! They listen to it all the time and even enjoy looking at the disc covers trying to identify the different artists. Priced below the Time Life site, I couldn't have found a better deal!

Essential Country - A Complete List of Tracks
By Thomas E. Davis
Time-Life sells this box set on TV for an inflated price, so it's similarly overpriced on Amazon, but it does include wonderful music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. If you buy it at a discount from an Amazon Marketplace seller, you'll be happier.Nearly all of the major country performers of the period are here: Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell, Roger Miller, Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Kitty Wells, and many others. During the "Golden Age of Country," the genre stopped being called hillbilly music and entered the mainstream along with pop stars like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and the Everly Brothers, all of whom are well-represented on this anthology. In addtion to the big hits, there are also many rarities as well as two discs devoted to "hard-to-find hits." You'll get a total of 10 themed CDs with 158 well-mastered tracks in seemingly random order, as if you happened upon them while listening to the radio. They're housed in a box with booklets containing liner notes. A full track listing follows:CD 1: Waltz Across Texas 11 Hey, Good Lookin' - Hank Williams2 White Lightning - George Jones3 You Ain't Woman Enough - Loretta Lynn4 Walk On By - Leroy Van Dyke5 Waltz across Texas - Ernest Tubb and His Texas Troubadours6 Next in Line - Conway Twitty7 King of the Road - Roger Miller8 Crazy - Patsy Cline9 Love's Gonna Live Here - Buck Owens10 Bye Bye Love - The Everly Brothers11 In the Jailhouse Now - Webb Pierce12 It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels - Kitty Wells13 Blue Moon of Kentucky - Bill Monroe & His Blue Grass Boys14 A Week in a Country Jail - Tom T.
