A glorious musical visit to Greece.

I've been listening to this music since it first came out on LPs back is the sixties. I never tire of it. I frequently listen to it now on my Car CD player and at night on my mp3 player. Of the dozens of people I've played it for, only one thought it was not that good. He also thought Ellington and Bach were overrated.In my defense,let me say this man was a friend of a friend. and someone who never wanted to come to my house again. Oh, darn!

Great music, greatest mezzo ever, but this disc is an exact duplicate of the one titled From Greece With Love, only the cover pictures are different. Both from Deutsche Grammophon, the same recording sessions at Polysound in Athens in November of 1985. Identical liner notes, identical (truncated) translations, identical song list in identical order. If it helps, they are: Garifallo st'afti, Oniro pedion tis gitonias, O tahidromos, Mera Magiou, To treno fevgi stis okto, Se potisa rodostamo, Stou Othona ta hronia, Aspri mera, Varkarolla, Ta trena pou figan and Arhontissa.

I was at a honky-tonk bar in NJ this weekend when we were playing trivia and won a CD. Some guy named Kip Moore. Never heard of the guy before, but decided to give it a try. The album starts off rocking to a brantley gilbert/jason aldean feel. I have listened to the album a couple times through at this point and really like it.Songs review-Drive me Crazy- Great way to start off the album, driving beat and good lyrics. Great song to get me to keep listeningBeer Money- My favorite song on the album, if not my favorite song right now. It is an amazing song that will be a top 5 hit within the next couple months. I cant get the chorus out of my head!Somethin bout a truck-Decent song. Not my favorite from the album but it is starting to grow on me. Wish the drums were more prevelant through the 4 verses before you get to the chorusEverything but you-My second favorite on the album. Songs about him living in Hawaii and it being beautiful, but the beauty doesnt mean anything if you dont have anyone to share it with. Song that a lot of people could relate to.Hey pretty girl-My 3rd favorite song, very Bruce Springsteen-esque, reminds me of I'm on Fire.All in all, this artist should be pretty decent as he becomes more known and this album is a great startP.S. You will enjoy this album if you like artists like Brantley Gilbert, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, and Jake Owen

Really enjoying this album!

I had heard "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck" on the radio and thought it was a great song. While listening to Pandora one day I heard several other songs from Kip Moore's Up All Night Album, so I decided to order a copy. I am glad that I did. Many of the songs bear little resemblance to "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck," so listeners who are expecting that same musical tone for the entire album might want to take a closer listen to the sample tracks.Moore's voice has the grit and drawl that brings authenticity to the songs. Instrumentals are solid: drums, acoustic & electric guitar, pedal steel. Great stuff.Most importantly for me, this is an album that I can listen to from beginning to end and enjoy every song without skipping a track. Highly recommended.

It's a sustainable resource; that what's so powerful about it, and why more people are listening to it and playing it today...." This album is simply awesome. If you are looking for a sophisticatedly simple bluegrass and folk album, this is it. This features some of the most beautiful fiddle and guitar work. If you love country, bluegrass, folk, or are simply looking to expand your musical horizons, this one is for you. From almost silly ditties like Black Jack Davey and Hop High, to the sad and contemplative Perilous Journey, the bluesy Station Blues and Midnight on the Water, and the more modern hymn-likecuts from Allison Krause and Union Station, this covers the scope of Southern music. Great Variety of Artists

This DVD features the show held in Nov.,2005. Many major talents are represented here, like veterans Jimmy Dickens and Bill Anderson to newer stars like Brad Paisley and Trace Adkins. Great songs such as Ricky Scaggs' "Black Eyed Suzie" and Trisha Yearwood on "She's In Love With The Boy" and many other popular favorites from such artists as Vince Gill, Charley Pride, Martina McBride and Alan Jackson. The shining gem of the evening though, is Alison Krauss & Union Station's performance of the Patsy Cline tune "She's Got You". Alison's crystal clear voice will give you chills. This show was well produced and recorded, it's a keeper!

The first time it happened back in 1947, the second timein 1961 and on the third occasion, the event took place on Nov. 14th 2005.Led by country star Vince Gill, this musical reunion is just fantasticwith today's and yesterday's wonderful country artists ranging from86 year old Little Jimmy Dickens to the nowadays top singers likeBrad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Martina McBride, AlisonKrauss etc and Vince Gill himself. The sound quality is superb whichshouldn't surprise us because the live concert is held at the worldfamous Carnegie Hall. That's why all of the artists give their bestpossible interpretation because they feel so "honoured" to act at thismusic hall. If you like Country music, this is an ABSOLUTE MUST! andif you like all kinds of music it's a must as well because it's notjust Country: it ranges from classic to rock and the various back upgroups also act at an enormous high musical level. Great voices!!

Over here in The Netherlands nearly nobody knows people like Vince Gill and Martina McBride. What a bloody shame that is!When Vince Gill is singing Go Rest High On that Mountain with Allison Krauss and Ricky Scaggs the world stops turning for me. I nearly can't imagine that there are people in the world who wouldn't love this song. I simply get tears in my eyes. Vince is for me by far the best country vocalist on this planet.And how awesome are Martina McBrides' both songs. For me she's the huge queen of country female singers. With power and passion she sings, just awesome. What a pity she doesn't sing a duet with Vince, a missed chance!It's a pity that there are some singers who shouldn't perform on this dvd, but what the heck, YOU SIMPLY HAVE TO BUY IT!!

An excellent collection of time loved hymns

I feel that this is one of the better collections I have ever purchased on the gospel end of the gamut. The choice of songs seems to reach across the generations, by highlighting many of the most well known hymns of our time. I particularly am fond of his version of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow". I think that this would be a great album for someone who was looking to purchase their first Tennesse Ernie Ford recording.

Simply Perfect

The 1st CD of Mr. Ford's that I purchased was entitled Amazing Grace: 40 Treasured Hymns -- a year later and I still frequently pop that magnificent collection of hymns into the drive. I HAD to have more -- so I purchased 2 other Ernie hymn CDs (including this one) -- and these certainly do not disappoint. While these CDs are comprised of age-old favorite hymns, Mr. Ford's unique, flawless bass voice gives them added life. Blend Mr. Ford's pure, non-pretentious bass voice with a judicious mixture of crisp alto's and tenor's, as some of the selections do, and you are presented with truly, magnificent works of art that seem to never get old. Just drop the CD into the drive, sit back, relax, and let Mr. Ford sing you back home with this soothing collection of favorite hymns.

I bought this CD specifically for the song "My Faith Looks Up To Thee" which is hard to find on a CD. This hymn was written in 1830 by Ray Palmer (lyrics) and put to music later by Lowell Mason, a man Palmer met on the streets of Boston. Mason took home the lyric, wrote a melody, and a few days later found Palmer and told him no matter what Palmer did for the rest of his life, he would be remembered for the hymn.Another gem here is "Just As I Am Without One Plea." This is the amazing story of Charlotte Elliot. This bedridden, sick woman was feeling sorry she could not help her pastor with his fundraising for charity as she was simply too sick. After writing this hymn in 1835, she was shocked to find copies of it being sold by the thousands. The proceeds were given to the very charity Charlotte thought she could not help. After she died in 1871, others found stacks of letters sent to her from all over the world, thanking her for changing their lives and bringing them to Christ.These are not the only two historical hymns in collection.This is not just a CD of the great hymns of our time. This CD is a living history of hymns going far back in time.It is a treasure.I am thankful I got a chance to see Tennessee Ernie Ford when he appeared on TV during his glory years.
