fine two CD set with excellent holiday music

This two CD set has some of the best country artists today performing great songs both traditional and relatively new! These artists all sing with a lot of style and sophistication; and those country vibes are awesome! The quality of the sound is excellent and I like that artwork as well even if it is a bit typical of this "NOW! music" brand of CD.The first CD has so many great tunes I scarcely know where to start. Darius Rucker's "Winter Wonderland" is quite well done; He sings very well and the strength in his voice impresses me greatly. The musical arrangement is lush and it perfectly complements his vocals, too. Brad Paisley's "Away in a Manger" charms me with its beauty; and I really like Julianne Hough's stunning rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."Brooks & Dunn do a very moving version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas;" this sentimental, romantic ballad was always one of my favorites. Luke Bryan's "Run Run Rudolph" is hot to the touch; and there's yet another gem in "The First Noel" by Josh Turner. "The Man with the Bag" has a swingin' sound to it that is very creative indeed; and the first CD ends with "Silver Bells" by Kenny Chesney.The second CD continues the outstanding music. Gene Autry's "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" is a classic charmer that showcases Gene's superb singing voice; and Vince Gill's "O Little Town of Bethlehem" is very pretty with that backup chorus harmonizing well. Glen Campbell's "O Holy Night" is a major highlight of the second CD; and I really like Tanya Tucker's "What Child Is This;" her excellent diction enhances her performance all the more. Great!Another ageless classic would have to be Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree;" Brenda sings this with lots of positive energy and she really makes this shine! Kenny Rogers' "Kentucky Homemade Christmas" has him squarely in the spotlight which is right where he belongs! That arrangement works wonders for the song, too. The second CD ends with two gorgeous numbers: Johnny Cash sings "Silent Night" and Burl Ives performs "A Holly Jolly Christmas." Burl always liked to sing "A Holly Jolly Christmas;" and you can feel his happy vibes when you hear him do this faultlessly.If holiday music with a country twist is what you like (as do I), then you owe it to yourself to get this two CD set for your music collection. This two CD set is full of such wonderful holiday music that you can truly enjoy it at any time of the year!

I ordered this CD to Germany because I really like American country music and I can say that my husband and I love it. We listened to it a lot last Christmas and also our little boy wanted us to put it in the CD-player all the time. It's country - but not too much. That means: you can listen to all your favorite well-known Christmas songs with some special country Christmas songs I haven't heard before. Johnny Cash's version of Silent Night really got me into it - and that is from a German with the original song being an Austrian with German lyrics. I can only recommend the CD!

This CD is worth it's weight in gold. The mix is outstanding. One of the few CD's that you'll enjoy playing straight through time and time again. The songs take us back to a more simple time. Some of the best songs ever written are here. Simple, infectious melodies that will never go out of style. This CD is worth twice it's price. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

Although I hear an occasional new 'country' song that I like, Country music has changed so much that it doesn't sound or FEEL like country any more!I'm 55 years old and I remember TRUE country and country/western. Great album, lots of songs. This era of country music is one of my favorites. The sound was updated from that old, simple 50`s sound. The new sound had better sound construction, better recording quality, good musicianship, and good production. The 80`s country and onward moved into a direction I don`t like. Listen to Satin Sheets, and some of the other female performances, you`ll enjoy them.

I heard his song Cowboys and Angels and instantly fell in love with it, I actually bought that song before this album was released but when I previewed the tracks on this CD I just had to buy the whole thing! I very rarely buy a whole album (especially not a new artist), I prefer to buy my favorite tracks, but I made an exception for Dustin and boy am I glad I did! I like Every song on this album:1. She Cranks My Tractor - A fun fast-paced song, Definitely going to be a hit! *Favorite*2. Waiting - Is a "she left, he wants her back" song, the music and lyrics are really good *Favorite*3. Cowboys and Angels - Obviously my favorite, it is just excellent in every way! =)**FAVORITE**4. Wild In Your Smile - "A good girl with a little bit of wild" song .. better in my opinion than the current hit Angel Eyes.5. Last Lap - A song reminiscing about the old days in your hometown, not my favorite but still a good song6. Sittin' Pretty - this one is about how he's sittin' pretty because he has his girl by his side7. Yeah Yeah Yeah - The girl is making him say Yeah Yeah Yeah lol =)8. Rock You Sweet - this one has kind of a beach/vacation feel, singing to his girl - I want to "rock you sweet" *Favorite*9. Unwind It - A good weekend/leaving work song10. A Celebration of the Greatest Living Country Singer

Of course the greatest living country singer would be George "Possum" Jones. As Emmylou Harris stated in an interview on the DVD, he needs no introduction. He needs no dancers, or smoke screens or anything else like that. He is a living legend and is quite simply one of the greatest singers of any genre of music to ever walk the face of the Earth. In a concert format, several country stars, old and new, pay tribute to Jones by singing some of his most classic, greatest hits. Most of the instantly recognizable ones are here, such as "A Picture of Me Without You", "The Grand Tour", "The Race is On", and "She Thinks I Still Care", and many more. There are also a few less known ones, such as "One of These Days". George Jones wraps it all up with his biggest hit, and the greatest country song ever recorded, "He Stopped Loving Her Today". I personally would have liked to see a few more well known ones but this is still a superb DVD in honor of Jones, with great sound and picture quality.

The Greatest Country Singer

I have always said that no one can sing a George Jones like George Jones. Well, I was wrong. Up until I bought this Concert Tribute, I thought the only one who even came close was Aaron Neville singing The Grand Tour. I never liked Randy Travis, but boy can he sing George Jones songs. Also I loved Vince Gill, Lorrie Morgan, Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Emmylou Harris, Martina McBride and Joe Diffie. But Uncle Kracker, Sammy Kershaw and Amy Grant blew me away!!! My only sour note was watching Harry Connick Jr. butcher one of George's greatest songs, She Thinks I Still Care. I totally refuse to listen to him on this concert. I hit the skip button the minute he comes on. Buy this concert if you want to see some great George Jones' songs being performed by outstanding performers.

Now this is REAL COUNTRY MUSIC, thru and thru.The presentation, sound and color is great.The words that Vince Gill had to say about George says it all.A real treasure to be able to sit and listen for 2 hours.GREAT VALUE from Amazon.I also purchased "NEVER SAY DIE" the final concert of WAYLON JENNINGS & THE WAYMORE BLUES BAND.It features his wife Jessie Colter in several songs.It's a Box Set, well worth the money.DVD(running time 2 hours) and 2 CD'sDon't pass up this opportunity.Also purchased WAYLON JENNINGS LIVE FROM AUSTIN,TEXAS recorded April 1, 1989.Features 17 great songs taken from the full concert with great color and sound.
