By Thomas E. Davis
The ONLY classic country collection you'll ever need? Not unless you don't like country much! These 34 songs from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and the stars who performed them are indeed among the best and most famous, but there's so much more to hear and enjoy. For every "Stand by Your Man," there's an "I Don't Wanna Play House." For every "Wichita Lineman," there's a "By the Time I Get to Phoenix." For every "Behind Closed Doors," there's "The Most Beautiful Girl." For every "I Will Always Love You," there's a "Jolene." You get the picture.Singers and songwriters like Tammy Wynette, Glen Campbell, Charlie Rich, Dolly Parton, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and George Jones recorded so many hits that choosing just one is simply impossible. And the fathers of honky-tonk (Ernest Tubb and Lefty Frizzell), western swing (Bob Wills), and bluegrass (Bill Monroe) all deserve far more than a single track each. However, if big hits are all you want, this two-CD set has 34 great ones. There's not a song on the album that doesn't represent the essence of country music.

By Gregory D. Pauletti
This is a nice compilation for those music listeners that aren't really a fan of country music. There is always the issue of which songs to pick, not sure how that is determined, probably by the personal preference of the record's producer or the sales count. Personally, there are some I would leave off to be replaced by other songs from those decades of post WW2 country music, but overall, a good compilation.

We really enjoyed this CD! Some of the songs we didn't know much but most of them were great hits of that era.
